COAG Consultation Regulation Impact Statement – Consumer Affairs Australia and New Zealand

On 5 October 2015, Consumer Affairs Australia and New Zealand on behalf of Consumer Affairs Ministers released a COAG Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) for consultation canvassing options for a consumer information standard for eggs labelled ‘free range’. The COAG RIS for consultation has been approved by the OBPR. The consultation period closes on 2 November 2015.

GST threshold for overseas goods – Council on Federal Financial Relations

On 21 August 2015, the Council on Federal Financial Relations (CFFR) announced that the threshold for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on imported goods would drop from $1,000 to zero from 1 July 2017. In making this decision the CFFR did not comply with the Council of Australian Governments’ best practice regulation requirements to prepare a Regulation Impact Statement.
