Exploring Impact Analysis
The Office of Impact Analysis was formerly known as the Office of Best Practice Regulation (OBPR). Please note the following material makes reference to OBPR and to Regulation Impact Statements (RISs), which are no longer in use.
The Exploring Impact Analysis video series provides insights from senior executives and officials on how policy makers can use the Impact Analysis process to deliver best practice analysis, including:
- Andrew Metcalfe AO (Former Secretary, Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment)
- John Skerritt (Former Deputy Secretary, Australian Department of Health)
- Kate Carnell (Former Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman)
- Mark Booth (Former CEO, Food Standards Australia New Zealand)
- Neil Savery (Former CEO, Australian Building Codes Board)
For most policy makers, Impact Analysis (IA) is central part of the process of developing new, or amending existing, policy. It helps to break down complex issues and understand the full impact of policy solutions, ensuring informed and evidenced-based analysis is provided to the Government.
