GST threshold for overseas goods – Council on Federal Financial Relations
On 21 August 2015, the Council on Federal Financial Relations (CFFR) announced that the threshold for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on imported goods would drop from $1,000 to zero from 1 July 2017. In making this decision the CFFR did not comply with the Council of Australian Governments’ best practice regulation requirements to prepare a Regulation Impact Statement.
