As part of the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy, the Government announced that it would co-design options to legislate a mandatory cyber security standard for Internet of Things (IoT) devices and develop a voluntary labelling scheme for consumer-grade smart devices.

Problem being addressed
Some parents of young children can benefit from extra support to help them, when they are ready, to prepare for the workforce while also prioritising their caring roles. This is particularly relevant if they have been out of the labour force for some time. By addressing their individual vocational and non-vocational challenges, parents can work towards achieving their education and employment goals. In the longer term, this can contribute to improving the economic security of parents and their participation.

The heavy vehicle cost base has increased and is expected to exceed the heavy vehicle charges revenue, leaving an expected revenue gap, including a gap of $575.8 million in 2022-23. This means that charges do not fully recover the share of road construction and maintenance costs that can be allocated to heavy vehicles.

The review of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) led by the National Transport Commission (NTC) identified a series of foundational changes to the HVNL as critical to accommodate in the current and future needs of Australia's heavy vehicle industry. At the June 2023 Infrastructure and Transport Ministers Meeting (ITMM) ministers endorsed the 14 recommendations detailed in the HVNL High-Level Regulatory Framework D-RIS.
