Problem being addressed
Two sunsetting legislative instruments: the Shipping Reform (Tax Incentives) Regulation 2012 (the Regulation); and the Shipping Reform (Tax Incentives) Act 2012 –Subsection 10(5) specification of kinds of vessels (the Instrument) are due to sunset on 1 October 2023.
Proposal
Remake both the Regulation and the Instrument with minor amendments that do not change their purpose or outcomes.

Consistent with the Government's Policy Impact Analysis requirements for sunsetting instruments, the Department has, after consultation with stakeholders, assessed the instruments are operating effectively and efficiently.
