The publication of the IA provides the community with an understanding of the evidence base used to inform a policy decision. After the announcement of the policy, the IA provided to the decision‑maker (reviewed to exclude confidential information) is published on the OIA website, together with the statement of sufficiency. Agencies should provide these to the OIA as soon as possible after announcement.
The IA must also be included in any explanatory memorandum or statement giving effect to the policy proposal.
