Problem being addressed
Single parents with dependent children face additional barriers to entering the workforce. Currently, Parenting Payment (Single) recipients experience a drop in payment rate if they remain on income support when their youngest dependent child turns eight years of age. Welfare organisations and other stakeholders have identified a risk of entrenched disadvantage for single parent families under current support arrangements. The majority of single principal carers are women, with over 95 per cent of Parenting Payment (Single) recipients identifying as female.

Nature Repair Market legislation introduced to parliament | Ministers (dcceew.gov.au)

Problem being addressed
The Australia State of the Environment 2021 report highlighted a number of challenges to Australian biodiversity. Australians depend directly on the health of natural resources for positive economic, social, and health outcomes. At the current rate of decline, without intervention, the degradation of Australian ecosystems will have large impacts on the environment, economy and our international reputation.

Problem being addressed
Some Australians may not have access to certain major events if they are not made available on a free-to-air television broadcasting service.

Proposal
To remake the anti-siphoning list without substantive amendment. This aims to ensure that free-to-air television broadcasters continue to have an initial opportunity to buy the television rights to major events included on the anti-siphoning list.

Remaking of four life insurance prudential standards

Problem being addressed
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) considers there is the potential for prudential risk to arise if the four standards proposed to be remade are allowed to sunset. APRA certify that the proposed standards are working effectively and remain fit for purpose.

Proposal
The four prudential standards that APRA would like to remake without change before they are due to sunset on 1 April 2023 are:
