International Air Services Commission Policy Statement 2018 for the International Air Services Commission Act 1992 – Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities
On 20 March 2018, the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport remade the International Air Services Policy Statement No. 5 as the International Air Services Commission Policy Statement 2018 (the Policy Statement) under Section 11 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, without significant amendments.
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) allocates passenger and freight capacity that is available under Australia’s bilateral air services arrangements with other countries to Australian international airlines. The Policy Statement sets out the range of criteria that the Commission is to apply when assessing the benefit to the public of applications from Australian international airlines for allocations of capacity.
Consistent with Government best practice regulations for sunsetting instruments, the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities has, after consultation, assessed the International Air Services Policy Statement No. 5 as operating effectively and efficiently, and requiring no significant amendments. Therefore, a Regulation Impact Statement is not required to remake the instrument as the International Air Services Commission Policy Statement 2018.
